I am thinking about using POR-15 in the near future on my frame,
suspension, and steering components. Approxiamately how much will one gallon take care of?

I did everything you mentioned and still have over a half gallon left.

I bought it online I think direct from POR15. It was about 8 years ago. The kit cost a little over $100 and it came with the "metal prep" degreaser and "metal ready" zinc coating plus all the directions for application. I also bought the Chevy orange pint about two years later with great results on my motor.

Ok thanks,
I will pick some up when the funds become available

I bought smaller cans - pints and quarts. Air gets in there and it goes bad after a while. Read the instructions on the POR web site.

I put the covers on with Saran Wrap to help keep it good.

POR-15 doesn't fight UV very well. Use their Chassis Coat as well to keep it black.

Second coat needs to be put on within 4-12 hours. Something like that. That could be a lot of brush time to do everything at once.

Good stuff!

Is this stuff sprayable?
I have an old wagner power painter that I don't use anymore and even if I couldnt clean it after I would think it would make the job easier as far as getting into cracks n crevises. As well as making the job quicker.

Yes i read that it is. Just wear a good respirator and full body clothing

It is sprayable and the directions will explain it as well.

Definitely cover yourself.... when they say that stuff will only come off with time, they mean it! My buddy helping me got some splatter on his face... ended up using his razor to get it off his nose and forehead for work on Monday! :D

I managed to keep it only on my arms where a long sleeve dress shirt covered.

You have to thin it. It's pretty thin already, but a Wagner may have a hard time.

Brushing flows out pretty good. I did mine in batches over several weeks. It really flows into the cracks well. Don't dip the brush into the can unless you're going to use the whole can during that session. Pour it into another throw-away pan.

Throw the brush away too and wear latex gloves.
