power steering hoses

OK, I recently purchased a 1977 CJ5 304ci with a 4"lift. It has a power steering leak, and I am trying to fix it. I went to the local parts store, bought a new pump and hoses. The return hose that they gave me looks nothing like the one I took off, the metal part of the hose that threads into the steering box is way to tall where it goes into a 90 degree angle to the rubber part of the hose. All of the on line part stores I look at have similar parts. Does any one know where I can get or build a hose that might fit? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Return hoses are just a standard hose no pressure.Cut the hose off your threaded ends and attach a hose to it with some hose clamps

I am surprised they even had the return hose with an end on it.

Hey, FD5050

I am going through the same evolution with an '80CJ. The under-hood area gets pretty crowded and the radiator base bumps my hoses.

I put a fix on that I really have come to like, cobbled together with brass angle couplings. Reason I like it is that I can screw in and seat the steering box connectors without hose line torsion pressure getting me cross-threaded. Then I can connect the hoses with just a straight alignment.

There are pictures below. I like it so well that that I think I'll treat the pressure line the same way, but just using silver brazing solder on the crush-ball and tubing seal to keep leaks away.
