If you go with the D/300. You will need to change the rear axle out to a centered housing.

I have a 9" that I built some years back that needs to be freshened up that I plan on using.

Love my 9". The bigger shoe brakes alone make it a worthwhile conversion. The strength is a bonus.
What did you 9" come out of?

78 Bronco, I have the matching Dana 44 that goes along with it.

Are those 5 on 5 1/2" bolt pattern?

LG

Should be - that's what my 78 Bronco had.

Yes they are.

No updates. Just wanted to wish everybody a happy thanksgiving.

Small update. Decided to decode my data plate and found out that what I was sold as a 77 is actually a 78 brilliant blue Levi (Edition) edition. Unfortunately anything identifying it as so is gone. Thought I had a line on a replacement frame and Dana 300 and when I went to check them out the place had closed and everything was gone. So if anybody has a place to find a Dana 300 in central Texas let me know. And it looks like me and my father in-law are going to be building a new frame. Continued stripping it down slowly by labeling and disconnecting everything to remove the dash. I'm trying to decide if I want to replace my harness or rebuild it. For those that rebuild, where do you find some of those goofy colored wires?

Another question. Was the harness behind the dash originally supposed to be wrapped and somebody made a mess of it or did jeep send it out with that rats nest?

Part of it was wrapped some of it not, even wrapped it looked like a rats nest. I bought a painless wire harness and absolutely love it. its OEM grade everything. Good luck on your project.

For the Dana 300 I'm planning on getting an adapter so that I can rotate it up a little too.
I'll probably be asking more questions once I get to the wiring part. Where is a good place to get wire from?
One of the first things I'm going to do is work on making sure it's running as well as possible before I take it apart too much more.

Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken, but aren't all Ford solid front axle differentials driver side drop? If so, its going to be a major pain to make your passenger drop Dana 300 work in this application.

Dave

After double checking you would be correct. Apparently I had forgotten that. Now I need to come up with a new plan. I don't have a 300 yet so do I find a driver drop case or a 300 and a centered 20?

My AMC20 was centered I think any that aren't QuadraTrac are centered, Dodge and Chevy Dana 44 are passenger drops, mine is from my old 83 Dodge
