Been a while, so I will revive this. I have been looking for a job a bit, the baby is still coming and the customer still wants to go to Moab in this in October, so I have been pluggin away at it.
I have a ton of new pictures

Basically I have put in new shackles, got the bumper and winch mocked up, NV3550 in there, dirveshafts cut down, new captive nuts in the frame, plated the frame, sanded it, POR-15 it, flywheel is ground down, back on with new clutch components (if anyone needs a T-4 setup, let me know), lengthened and sectioned the exhaust, cut and modded the tub for the Transmission , fixed the firewall, fixed more of the frame, cut down the body lift a bit for fitment in his garage reasons, everything back into the frame for test fitting, custom plates and adapters were made, the floor is patched and finally I fixed up the transmission tunnel a bit for fitment as well around the Dana 300 and NV3550.
phew, that was a lot.

Today I am doing the underside of the tub and getting some bedliner on it, tomorrow is herculiner on the inside, hopefully by the end of the week I will have the body at least sanded down and hopefully thinking about some paint!

Just got out of a hot shower... the amount of debris falling off me was insane... you know you did a good thing on the Jeep when you are that dirty.
The underside of the tub is grinded down, sanded, prepped, and lined... pics up tomorrow, I am going to have some beers and some pasta...

It is the combo that seems to work well... I just got in from doing the inside part... 2 coats of Herc, tomorrow is top coat UV protection and some firewall work, not to mention hopefully some body work.
I am beat from the last 2 nights of this...

Hay Cert I took a look at what you are doing. It looks good, a lot of time spent helps. My project has stalled, been getting sent out of town, I hope to have to the engine and Transmission out this weekend so that I can get rid of the frame.
Izz has been doing most of the work but he did it out side so he has to resand the tub, it is a wonder what rain will do.

I feel for you... it has been raining here every day for the last 2-3 weeks. The say it is the worst on record since 1903 which is just crazy. It is somewhat depressing and you just have to keep fighting to keep working.
Upside benefit is that it is cooler then normal and they say the summer should be less hot, but it does cause things to dry less quickly and rust faster!

RIP Mike, we'll all miss you
Dang! its been around 100* here for the last couple weeks! The 3YO asked to take the boat out last might after we got off work, it was so hot.
That Jeep is looking sweeet, Cert! I hope my CJ7 goes back together as nicely. We are still gathering parts, and I still have a lot of work to do to the frame, so it will be a while. But I got 5 days off work, and am getting ready to put a new (robbed of the project 7) steering box on my 5 so I can drive it again! :woohoo:

I am putting some new pictures of the top coat process up now... it looks no different then the Herculiner, it just now has the UV protectant on it.
I hope to tackle the drive train today. I ordered up a new rear drive shaft from Tom Wood's yesterday. It is a CV shaft because of hte angle.
Here is what I didn't know. First, it requires a new yoke for the Dana 300 ... second, it requires shims for the pinion angle of the rear axle to be turned upwards. There are 4 degree ones in there now, but they are saying you need closer to 10 degree to work... dang... also, if you put new shims in, you really shouldn't reuse the u-bolts, so that also needs replacing. So, the $299 dirveshaft now costs $450 with all those extra pieces... didn't expect that.
So, the mount from Advanced Adapters came in today for the bottom of the NV 3550, so that is what I plan on doing as the top coat of the UV protectant dries. Basically the humidity is slowing things down on that front. I had to wait the whole day to get it to be dry to the touch, overnight for good measure.
The skid plate needs to be notched as well for the front driveshaft too, then some POR-15... so all in all, another busy back breaking day!.
One more thing to note... I went to childbirth class last night. Well, enough said...

thats not a bad deal, really. An extra $50 for shims, U-bolts, and a yolk? I paid $60 just for the rear U-bolts for one of my projects. Of course they were 12" long...but still...

well thats a better deal on the driveshafts! Good to know a ballpark figure and how much the extras will cost what I get around to needing Tom to build me a set of 'shafts!

The CV style requires the new yoke, if you don't need a CV, then you don't have that expense, they will tell you what shims you need though, so that is a good part of the deal.
