Project Tub Swap

Project Tub Swap
Where was this 3 months ago when I needed it!?!!?!?!?!

No Jeep right now... I have a new project... she shows up in 4 weeks... my hands have to be somewhat clean to handle that... LOL...

After the little one arrives, we can talk more about projects.

:dung: thats a lot of work. its amazing to look at the CJ and YJ they look the same on the outside but its all the small details that they changed to make it a PITA:D That was great work it looks great:notworthy:

I though the only difference between a CJ and YJ were one or two body mount locations. well obviously the tailgate but what else is there?

All you ever wanted and there is still more...

certifiablejeep.com - Third Project Build-up - Conclusions

The ones that aren't mentioned here are

Dash hold down hole modification
Dash holes enlargement to make it fit better

Firewall modifications if you aren't running a computer, you need to cover up that big hole or else you get a breeze on your leg in the winter.

There are more, I just can't remember all of them... but I have done 3 on the site, and they are all documented, so you can read through, I am sure you will pick up on them.

certifiablejeep.com - Project "Curtis Jeep" - part #15

I hope to have the TC done this weekend and move onto the doors.

We will see if the wife decides to pop or not... she is looking like it could be any day.

Moount locations are easy, it is a welder thing and believe me learning to weld is not that hard, every jeep guy should have a mig. the other differences are also not to hard to overcome. The wrangler was developed to overcome the tipsiness of the CJ line, other things swaybars were a factor as well as lowering the CJ. Big thing we lost was the styling of the CG. Trust me nothing looks as good as a CJ. But we also gained a lot. Kitbashing a body into frame and drivetraine is reaal not as hard as it seems, just the wring needs to be reviewed as well as to what drive train. YJs have a reputation for bad trannies, and the Dana 300 Transfer Case from the cj line has a reputation for rock hard stability. So you can see benefits from both ends.
However you do. do good research before spending money and post up mods here.

I would encourage anyone who is learning to weld, to take a bit of time and learn from a professional. Migs have a tendancy to make great looking welds but you can easily not have a stong a weld as you think you do. They easily mask problems.

I took a 12 week class at the local vo college years ago, learned stick and tig. What an eye opener! Having access to professionals was / is such a help.

When I got my Miller, I followed the specs on the welder (at first) and after many, many, many cutups (I have access to equipment to check my welds) I learned about the welder. Almost every weld I made at first was not as good as it looked.

I'm sure your welding is up to par - this is just a note to others that pick up a mig and think that because the weld looks good - it is good... :)

Congrats! Didn't know we were all going to have a new Jeeper! Great! :)

She arrived yesterday afternoon and was great all day, but her schedule seemed to favor the evening... She and Mom are doing well. Not a "CJ", but a "TJ"... best I could do in arguing for the name ;)

Yea Ha! Congratulations!

Yeah, she is a peanut... one of those larger peanuts... a cutie though. I am sure she will want to be having her own Jeep before long... have to go out and get one and put it in storage for the next 16 years...

We will have to figure something out with the t-shirts.
Have to setup a poll to find out how big she was.
I haven't told a ton of people since I am still in the hospital, so we will have to do something once I get out of here.

Her name is Tabitha Judy Brown... she came into the world yesterday... vitals and time are still withheld due to possible contest reasons.

Holy hell! CONGRATS TO THE CERTIFIABLE FAMILY UNIT! I insist on piks of the brand new "baby build up" :chug:
