Hey guys, a few weeks ago i asked about attempting get my Transmission /transfer back in. Long story short i have a new flywheel that needs to be put in. The engine is a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with a T-150 . Does it matter how the flywheel goes in, or can it be put up in any orientation. Looking at it, it looks like its balanced, its got a few extra "holes" in it that im guessing are for balance. I am an idiot and didn't take pictures when i took the old one off, so i really hope it doesn't matter. Thanks.

Your crankshaft & flywheel holes will be indexed, and all the bolts will only go in when it is. Put it up and on & rotate tell all holes are aligned, lock-tight the threads and snug them down & then torque to specks.

IF-you do go with new f'wheel bolts. Make sure the do NOT protrude at all, out the back of the crank's flange.
X2 on Loctite and torque to spec.

Will any grade 8 fine thread bolts do or are the flywheel bolts special?

There is a special type of flywheel bolt, which is probably a grade 8 anyway. An auto parts should have those. As to what Lumpy said about the bolts could be too long, I remember having to trim mine down before installation. So watch for that.

When I did my T19 upgrade I found that I was missing one flywheel bolt. Tried all the parts stores, even my trusted Napa was no help, then I gave my local Chrysler/Jeep dealer a ring for giggles and was quite surprised when the parts guy asked "how many do you need ?". Now mind you they didn't have them on the shelf ,and I had to wait a week for it, but they had them.

Ditto - All of the local parts stores sell 1" long which is too much. Grind'm down or go stealership.
