Question on how to tell if its a cj5 or cj7
nope, no tailgate.:) It's a 73 Super Jeep , came with thoes decals.
 
Well to answer everyones comments im the original poster and yes my tub is fiberglass which bring on another question should i keep it fiberglass or switch everything to steel let me know everyone!
 
If the fiberglass tub is in good shape and not giving you any problems - There is no reason to get rid of it... :)

ya but then my fenders flex alot and it just ends up not being supported as well and i think it may create problems in the future but im not quite sure

Again, didn't mean to high jack this thread, lol. I feel like I owe the OP (which I learned today means "original poster") an apology.

Keep the fiberglass body if it's not giving you problems. I'm one of those people that only replaces things if it is functional. It depends on your intentions for the vehicle. Is this a true resto project or a toy? If you plan on driving it like a Jeep, then leave the body until you destroy it enough to justify the swap. Just my opinion!

is it a one piece front end? The fenders shouldn't flex if it's made well. I can stand on mine and they don't move. Maybe just cheap fiberglass, would make me wonder about the body if it's glass also.
can you post some pics.
 
Have to agree if the fiberglass is in decent shape and no reason to change it out then keep it.
And my 79 had no tailgate from factory :p

Old Dog how can you tell if its a one piece front end and on my jeep the firewall is also seperated from the body a little bit and yes the body is glass to.
 
When opening the "hood" the whole grill and front fenders would lift with it also. Hence the 1 piece moniker.

If the firewall is starting to seperate from the body :eek: I would think about replacing it or at least see if it could be repaired.
 
My pic isnt as nice but it can also open like this. Can you post pics of your Jeep , especially the firewall area?

i have a gallery boys and a picture of the firewall you cant really tell what it is unless i showed you which one because it had light poking through the whole and there is serperation on the top also

It's hard to tell from the pic, but if the firewall and body are going their seperate ways I would start looking for another body.

They were made both way's. I think they started around the 76' model year.
Mainly on high line Jeeps like "Renegade " to leave the tailgate panel blank.
I bought a 81' CJ5 Renegade V8 new, it had no tailgate.
