1983 cj7 , six cylinders , 5 speed , 2.5 inch skyjacker suspension lift , 2 inch body , 35 x 12.50 x 15's ,one piece axles , just bought this cj after PO stored for the past 25 yrs ,
What is the rarest or hardest part to find or buy for a CJ ? I know someone with a bunch of CJ parts and I need to know which parts to buy

Interior items in the colors Nutmeg , honey , red and slate blue. Laredo items. Stock items like the original Marchal bumper lights mud flaps center caps and wheels. A/c units , clocks , tachs and any good stock seats.

Thats just some of the stock Cj parts off the top of my head. Scrambler stuff is always good as well like any top in good condition or the bulkhead.

split windshield parts , vacuum wiper motor and parts ,probably some of the older axles might be rare , original speedo gauges are better original than after market , original seats

I would say something like the Dana 44 rear for newer CJ's. Also specific colors, packages and options that are OEM. Upgrades from what you have are good too. If you only have the T-4 (light duty)or something and you find T-176 (Medium duty) tranny, go for it.

The most rare thing I have come across is my AMC saddlebags. I found on CL and the guy said they were "stock" when he bought it in the ealry 80's. I was there to pick up something else from him and he wanted only $35 for the pair. So I bought because they looked cool. I knew there were aftermarket ones ($90ish) but had not seen any before and was interested as these had older looking steel zippers and buttons to clamp them on, not velcro or pull tight nylon. They sat for years on a shelf and other than being really dusty dirty they were in great condition with no damage.

I did some research and was only able to find a nutmeg pair that were sold in auction a few years back out of a Jeep warehouse. So I searched some more and found an option list from 1982, to my surprise they were in it. http://www.82jambo.com/documents/82JeepAccessories.pdf I cannot believe all the options that were available in 1982! Winches, air ride, bumper hooks, etc.

I have not come across any black ones and only one other used set that just went on ebay for $190, they are nutmeg.
