Ok so heres the deal i have a 1977 CJ5 and it has a fiber glass tub the tub is in good condition except for some minor body damage on the cowl between the hood and the body and as far as the front end the right fender is shattered and the firewall is seperated from the body at certain parts and pushed back. What i need to know is if i use that same tub can i reset the firewall and seal it back up? and if i can how would i do this? also i need to know if i wanted to rhino line the inside of my fiberglass tub would the liner stick?(after prep work is done of course) Thank you guys for the help as always!

The cool thing about fiberglass is that you can do anything you asked about. I would suggest you give yourself a crash course in fiberglass repair and what materials you are going to need and how to mix, cut, grind, shape, mold, sand, and paint it. It isn't rocket surgery but if I am reading your knowlage level correctly all I can say is "You got some learnin to do , Pilgrem". There are lots of books on working with fiberglass, I would suggest the local used book store, I think you will find a few good and previously rather expencive books previously owned by people that decided they were not up to it. I would hope you profit from their loss.

Rino liner?bed liner will stick to anything clean and roughed up, even you, and it will not come off. this is my experience. I used the do it yourself Herculiner on the floor board of my 77 CJ5 . you can't do too much prep work, rough sand everything and put it on in as thin a coats as possible as many coats as possible.

But that still leaves on question unanswered how could i go about resetting the firewall if it has seperation on the top and bottom and thank you for the advice!

you will have to be a bit more specific about what you are describing. Is it separated horizontally or vertically?. is there a chance of pictures of the situation?

OK so so I could not find my donkey with both hands and a map. I looked at the pictures in your gallery. does not look too bad. I guess. is this a CJ5 or CJ7 , the body style is a 7, I am sure you already know that. I guess it would be a good thing to be rid of the CJ5 door shape I lost count how many pants pockets I have lost to the CJ5 door.
I would have to say that if you wanted to repair that tub it would require the removal of the tub from the frame. I would want to find some way to stand the tub on end so I could push the fire wall into place and do the glass repairs from the inside. Then It could be made pretty again from the outside.with out the engine in the way. pretty big job, especially with winter coming on.

I thought mine was a CJ5 ? is it a CJ7 or a CJ5 ? lol

its OK the 7 is basically just a bit longer.
I have to ask for input from some one else here, is it wider? I don't think so but I could be wrong. check the wheel base to be sure.

Just 10" longer the doors. Most parts are intercahngable from 76-86

Interior, dash, steering, full nose from headlights to body and most all of the power trane like engine tranny Transfer Case front drive shaft (not the rear) windshield frame and glass and everything attached to it. the only slight exception is the wide track rear axles will need to have new spring perches welded on if you wanted to use then in a swap. All the front axles will cross fit.

Well i was told that the cj7s having a different windsheild frame and thats why a CJ5 top couldnt fit on it? is that true?
