OK, Currently I don't own any CJs, just a couple of ZJs, but I've owned several CJs over the years, all AMC 304 's , and all 3 spds. which is why this listing on Ebay caught my eye.

You guys have to check this joker out. Like I said, I'm by no means a CJ authority, but I do know a 401 was never a CJ option, and that a 4spd. was never available behind the AMC 304 until what 1981?
Anyways, check out this guys listing, He has it listed as a factory 401 4spd., and was adamant in his original listing that this was the case, going as far as claiming that "These Jeeps were called "Super 400's" by AMC in their advertisements." Anyways, he apparently took a lot of
about this listing from "people in the know" , and had the vin checked out, and now concedes that the vin shows that it came with a AMC 304 , however this guys like a cat, he keeps landing on his feet.
Here's his new description :
"According to VIN this CJ came with a AMC 304 V-8 and I believe the original owner had the dealership install a warmed over AMC 401. As you can see from photos the install is super clean and this motor looks like it belongs in there. AMC called these 'Super 400's' in their advertising."
If you go down to the bottom of the page and check out the Q&A , he forgot to edit that too. That was before he had his "epiphany"....
I won't even get into the photos of the Jeep itself, however be sure and check out the pics of the underside. Somebody decided to "bomb can" the steering, axles, leaf packs, etc. but then figured it looked too obvious, so they took it out and ran it through some puddles. The shot of the frame rail, you can tell was just painted, as there's a glaring missed spot (Frontside of left most body mount, and you can see the fresh overspray on the underside of the tub and on the muffler.
Anyways, Don't take my word for it, go check this
box out..... And for only $13,500 it can be all yours. A dealer installed "Super 400" ! AMCs answer to the Yenko Camaro........
