Rear axle hub removal
Now that you have said that I guess I should have given my warning before putting up my last post. There is nothing wrong with the axle. Just taking it apart to put a lock right in there.
Thanks. The puller was a cheapy from autozone. Might be better off loooking for a bigger/better axle to swap in.
The more I think about it, I think I will just go with the one piece axles and run 33s. Thanks
unless you are running a very low ratio you will have to remove the carrier and the ring gear to install the drop in locker.![]()
Well, I kinda thought it would be easy to pull it off and remove the axles and install the locker, put it back together in a few hours. Wrong!
Thanks parenegade I'll do that.
When I put the LocRight in my 20 with the high carrier (2.73) I don't recall pulling the carrier. You just punch out the crossbar and remove the top and bot. spyders, then the side two. Then install the locright parts. I'll dbl. check my instructions if they're still in the box. That's why they call them lunchbox lockers. Stick it in your lunch pail and install it over your lunch break.
Pimtool - If your going to pull the axle assembly out, careful of the inner seal that sits inside the axle tube about 2". Don't want to damage it. When you reassemble it clean the flanges and put some rtv sealer around it.
Once I pulled the brakes off and removed the flange bolts the axles pulled out with little effort. Got the locker installed, now just have to put it back together and she how she digs.
Thanks for the info.
