1980 CJ-7with 258, SR4 4 speed transmission, stock everything that I can tell.
I have a 1980 CJ5 with front disk brakes & rear drum brakes. The front seem to be ok. I figured the rear drums would be shot since the emergency brake doesn't work & it didn't feel like the rear were working (everything on this bad boy needs replacing). I opened up the rear drums & saw I had a bad axle seal leaking into it but the pads were not worn at all. I adjusted them and compared it to the Chilton manual and saw the PO had lost the brake adjuster cable, guide, and brake adjuster lever. I adjusted the brakes by hand to where the axle would rotate barely & once I drove it, the brakes seem much better.

However, does anyone know where to buy the three listed parts? The brake adjuster cable, the guide and the lever?

Quadratec sells all of that.

Q-tech, as stated above, and most all parts chain stores sell drum brake hardware kits. I got mine at CARQUEST 'cause the guy there treats me real good since I'm in there every week.

All the brake parts you need are readily accessible at O'Reilly Auto Parts. They're reasonably priced, and I can find everything online and have it delivered to the nearest store by the next day at the latest.

Thanks to everyone so very much! I called NAPA & went by & picked up a set for each side for $8 each. That was a blessing & I'll work on my googling skills! More questions will be coming shortly!

You are lucky, my PO removed ALL the E-brake components. Just a couple flat bars, man were they expensive.

Be careful the fluid leaking in your drum will saturate and/or bake on your brake shoes. At this point, even if they look good, your shoes need to be replaced.

IIRC, your 80 has the 10" brakes, which makes getting small parts a heck of a lot easier than the 11" brakes. I know a couple items I had to go to an original AMC dealership that just happened to have them 'in the back'.

We got the old emergency brake removed & it was totally worn out. The little grey sprocket was ground flat on one side. My friend found an OEM unit, brand new in the wrapper on eBay for 25$. We got her installed & it works like a charm. Thank you all very much! I also got the self adjusting brake parts in there too!

Whow, your PO must have used his E-brake a lot. When I was a kid one of the things my dad insisted on was to absolutely NEVER use the E-brake. :) Times change I guess.
