1986 Jeep CJ

Mostly stock, 258 c.i.d., T-176 tranny, Dana 30 front, AMC 20 rear, Dana 300 t-case, 31x10.50 tires, 2 inch body lift
My project Jeep currently has a Bestop fixed rear seat. This seat will tilt forward, but does not fold (backrest onto seat) down. Instead, it has fixed L-brackets holding the backrest at 90 degrees to the seat.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find some replacement brackets that will allow me to fold down the backrest?

Being it's a bestop I'd start with them if no luck there, take some measurements and
hit up the local junk yards check minivans.

Hmmm later model TJs and YJs have foldable seats you could rob the brackets from them

I have the same seat in the back of my CJ5 and yes, it DOES fold down. There are two bolts that hold the back rest in the upright position, one on each side of the bracket. 5/8" I believe. Remove those bolts and the back of the seat folds down on to the seat bottom. You can replace them with something like this to make it a quick set up...
