Hey guys, I've dropped my tank and am ready to attempt some body repairs on the back of my tub. I was thinking it would be nice to have some room to work between the rear of the frame and the tub and then I saw this photo from JAG811's awesome Aussie build:

My question: If I undo my body mounts, can I get away with doing this? What else would I need to unhook? Is there any issue with the gear shifts?

I've already ordered a new set of body bushings since mine are shot anyways.

Thanks for any feedback!

I think you're talking about raising the body some to be able to repair repaint the underside. Once you remove those body mounts, you should have several inches to raise it. Points of interest will be wiring harness, shifter, brake lines to the MC, and front grill mount. If you're careful you shouldn't have any problems. I would use something other than just the high lift jack. Try putting a board between anything that you use to raise the body with and the body. Distribute the weight evenly, so you don't create additional dents.

Hope you disconnected the battery.

There're live circuits under the dash, and we don't want to call him 'Sparky'-LOL

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot. For the record, that isn't my photo. Mine still has everything except the gas tank, hood and battery connected!
