hey everyone! i'm new to this site and have lots of things to learn about my beloved CJ. I have a 74 CJ5 in amazing condition; not perfect, but amazing for the amount of beating my brother and myself have put it through; i've tried to start taking care, cleaning, and fixing it up over the last couple years.... anyways I am planning to do a rebuild on the whole thing, complete frame off resto type rebuild. My plan is to drop a 350 SBC in it and I was wondering if any of you guys could give me some of the do's and dont's and what are the best setup ideas for the drivetrain with a 350 SBC power plant. Thanks!

Kyle

Welcome Kyle,

There should be enough info here to keep you reading for months.
As for direction on the build, it's kind of like asking 'I'm going fishing, what fish should I catch'.
There's pros and cons to every decision on the build.
The more you read, the more your build will take shape in your mind, as to what you'd like to do :D

Oh, and triple your budget ...
Can't wait to see progress mate !!

:chug:

:ww: as far as your build you need to decide what you plan on doing with your Jeep and plan the build accordingly.

thanks guys. yea i was up until about 2 am the other night just reading and seeing how others builds are going. I plan to use my jeep pretty much just to sling a lot of mud around. As you prolly noticed there is already alot of mods done to it. the guy I bought it from had it set up as a camping rig and he would drive to ohio about every year for some event. thankfully he kept very very VERY detailed notes about what he had done, planned to do, or was doing. there isn't one little cranny this guy hasn't touched and made note of. might take a while before i start doing the build, unfortunately it's my daily driver and i am going back into the army around feb or march time frame. so for now i might just pull the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and clean it up. keep ya posted!:us:

Start a list, what do you want to do with your CJ..

1. Drive it to the mall, and pick up chicks..
2. Drive it to the mall, pick up chicks, go to a semi remote riverside spot and make out..
3. Drive it to the mall, pick up chicks, drive through the river and up the side of a mountain to make out..

...and build accordingly.
