I have a red interior from the factory and want to keep it as OEM as I can...

My dash has a small crack and the drivers seat vinyl is pretty rough on the left side bolster.

Anyone have a resource for good old AMC vinyl and a tip on fixing the dash pad?

Being it's a 30 yo vehicle and that the color is red. Good luck on any kind of a match.

That's worth a picture, I've never seen a red OEM interior on a CJ.

Not as OEM.
OP, can you post pictures of the seats and dash pad?

The color that you have may be Garnet. All shades of red are red to me including the thousands of different shades of pink. If it is indeed Garnet, check on Ebay with a vendor called autointeriorkits. multiple color choices and in the style of the OEM you wish to replace. As far as the dash goes, you may have to also purchase one of those in "paintable grey" and color match to your needs. Morris 4X4 has a couple to choose from. adding color to the dash is not that difficult and will be as close to original as you will find this many years past manufacture date. Good Luck!

Yes actually it is Garnett.

From everything I have found my CJ was a national or regional SPO (Special Production Order) offered to dealers. Mine was called the Liberty Edition giving is some classic gold ugly stripes, garnett interior w/carpet, white top, white wagon wheels, and was available in white or red exterior. Seems as if they were available in the Great Lakes area. Mine came from Chicago originally.

I have a ton of pics and will swing thru Walgreens to put them on a DVD or something.

Good to know on the grey dash thanks - I figured I'd have to go to an upholstry shop...the passenger seat and rear are like new. The Jeep didn't ever have the top off it until I bought it in 99. It did live with the top off from my ownership on but still taken care of with the hard top in the winter and soft top/bikini put up in the rain...most of the time

If you have a smartphone, installing Tapatalk and creating a Tapatalk account then adding this forum makes adding pictures SO easy. You can update a post and add pictures right from underneath the hood or while laying on the crawler.

If your looking for Garnet head over to CJ8 .com. Pm Jersey Jeeps. He usually has some nice stuff. If he doesn't Pm Red Mistress on the same site. He always deals with Garnet. Be prepared to spend a couple bucks though.
