Lol,
I remember when one of our neighbor got Pong for Christmas :)
It seemed so amazing back then and now my kid plays Mindcraft on the iPhone

My dad bought me one from Sears, but I had to hook it up. It was the only video game I played for more than a few days.

I won't own a gaming console and never put money in an electronic arcade game. I think I played Pacman once in high school, but nothing after 1985.

I just don't get the fascination. I made UNIX systems do my bidding from '85 until 2010, built PCs for a few gamers on the side and took their cast offs when I wanted to upgrade.

Obligatory on topic

Remember when Avery Schreiber was the star of Doritos commercials?

Remember when we "browsed the internet" with gopher instead of http?

Remember when you could buy a whole brick of .22 ammunition for what a single box costs now?

Remember when you could buy it at the grocery store?

Remember when you could go down to the local Jeep dealer and buy a new CJ.

I remember playing Pong plugged into a TV.
I remember in 1984 I had a roommate who was a computer programer. I mentioned to him that I read about computer viruses and his reply was "That's ridiculous! Computers can't catch viruses" Since he was a "computer programer" I couldn't believe he never heard of computer viruses before me.
BTW I have since gone into the computer industry.

Remember when the TV station would play the Star Spangled Banner when they first came on the air in the mornings and show the American Flag.

Remember when there was no way print out the Indian head test (or focus?) pattern and take it to the shooting range to poke holes in it?

Remember when I spouted off about VHF when I really shouldn't have gone into details about technology I never understood well enough to type about?

Remember when this thread wasn't about subtext?

Remember when oil cans were made of cardboard and you had to punch the top with the old "church key" in a couple of places so you could pour the oil out?

If you was real high speed, low drag....you may have had one of those oil can spouts with the sharp chisel point to insert through the metal top. Saw one of those at a flee market the other day.

 Wow I totally forgot about that.

How about the "dope gun" used to put gear lube in axles and transmissions. kind of like a cross between a hypodermic and a grease gun.

Been a while since I have seen one of those.

Remember when you could take your new rifle to school to show it off.

Remember when new cars came with the bumper jack? Thing resembled our high lift jacks, just lighter weight. You'd have to lift the body nearly three feet in the air before the suspension would unload enough for the tire to clear the road enough to change a flat.

I do remember as a kid, wondering what that little vertical cut was for on each side of the front bumper of dad's four door Ford until I saw him assemble that jack and attach it to the car to change a flat.

Remember when:

1) The milk man delivered your milk to the house in those quart bottles with the paper cap? Used to sit out on the front step in the wee hours of the morning every Saturday waiting on him so I could give him the empty return bottles! (which brings me to the next "remember when")

2) After bringing in the milk, it was nearly time for the Buggs Bunny and Road Runner Show!! I miss real cartoons.......:(

3) ...it was OK to have a shotgun or deer rifle on the gun rack in the back window of the truck at High School?!! I always tried to beat my drafting teacher to the deer stand after last bell.

4) ...an AM / 8 Track "stereo" was an option for the Mustang?
I remember my "real Dad" delivering the milk. At least that's who my older brother said he was... And I too remember cartoons before Japanimation.

I remember when I could carry my pocket knife everywhere....school, the plane, etc and use it and not get hauled off to jail.

Remember when "retirement" was only a concern for your grandfather?
