I have a 1983 CJ7 with the Renegade logo on the hood. I would like to remove it and don't know how without tearing up the paint. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Paint shops have a rubber disk if you will that chucks into a drill motor that will take skickers off without damaging paint, however I think you will be able to see where that skicker was do to paint fade thoough, something to think about

thank you. the paint fade wouldn't matter. someone already took the decals off on one side i just wanted to remove the others so i could paint them to match the jeep.

They be referred to as eraser wheels.

And a drill is not what you use you need to use a Die Grinder I know because I own one I bought from Snapon.

I've always used 3M "General Adhesive Remover" Part# 08984.

It comes in quart cans and it is very gentle to paint. It will soften the logo and/or glue. I keep a can on hand at all times, It is also the best road tar remover I've ever found. Again, NO paint damage.

I have used a heat gun to soften decals to remove. If careful you can peel it off.

True, one should use a die grinder. I just chuck them up in the coal powered drill and go.

If your are going to use an eraser wheel your average die grinder spins to high of rpms most of the wheels recommend the rpms have a max of 4000 anything higher will burn the paint they have there own tool

If not careful, I've heard you can damage the paint. I've used hair dryers, though, to remove stickers.

I worked for a utility company that had a large fleet of vehicles and in the course of my work there they changed names several times.A vendor would come in and remove the decals with a heat gun and apply the new ones.No problem.Since that time I have used this method on my own vehicles removing those crappy looking dealer stickers and such. The eraser thing that was mentioned I thought was for removing pin stripping and painted graphics. good luck with it.
