Does anyone know of where online i can find them? or does anyone know the sizes i would need ? I also cant get my hands on the studs for the manifold?? Thanks in advance.:chug:

McMaster-Carr

McMaster-Carr

These are the ones I was told would work. I've ordered them and will replace them when I can. I was told the brass nuts would not corrode, so they shouldn't be a PITA to remove if I need to down the road.:chug:

I like the stud idea but the brass nuts, not so much. not sure why but electrolysis is first thing to come to mind. Dissimilar metals are rarely a good idea.

Studs are way strong 3/8" -16 x 1 1/2" & 2" if I remember right, someone check me on that might be longer/shorter.
Brass nuts on hot exhaust will get destroyed when trying to remove the next time, and might need vise-grips (Brass = Electrical Parts).

Get zinc-dichromate plated steel nuts & studs grade 5. At any hardware store.
Use anti-seize = zinc

Who told you easy to remove?

Couldn't tell you. Found it either here or jeep forum.

*EDIT* (Couldn't sleep, didn't want to give out BS info)

THIS particular thread said to to do it. The ones below are all suggesting the same thing. I'm in the Coast Guard and of course live by the ocean. I want my CJ to last me my lifetime, hence the reason why I'm talking with Aqualu about getting setup after this upcoming deployment. :D

Brass nuts will loosen up. The different metals expand and contract differently That is why the brass nuts you get with the studs for the exhaust manifold (for the cats eye style flange and a donut gasket). I imagine that the brass studs would do the same thing. Plus brass is soft. If they needed to be removed and broke you would have another problem. Plus the stud threads could be prone to stripping since they are softer.

I'm not arguing, just saying that's what I've read. I might just get done stainless ones, but I'm not sure yet.

Posi, thanks for the link. That's exactly what i was looking for. I'm going to head up the the local hardware store and pick them up.

So i have the sizes of the studs and intake bolts (intake kit link from Posi). Anyone have any idea where to find the Exhaust mani bolt kit? or what size they are? I want to get all the bolts in 1 trip so i can tighten everything on at 1 time. :chug:

they are one and the same. the bolts/studs hold the intake and exhaust. Don't loose the washers, they are kind of hard to find replacements for.

Hey IOPort,
How many Studs do i need to get and where would they bolt on? is there a pattern? I took the engine apart a long time ago and don't remember which ones went where. I had it rebuilt so everything is back in place and i temporarily have 3 bolts and 1 stud holding the manifolds on but not sure about the rest. Also, lets say i did lose some of those washers. Any idea where i could find them?

Can some take a picture of their intake/exhaust manifolds so i can see which bolts need to go where? or does someone already have one on here they can point me to? thanks.

I can say you will need a couple of different lengths but you will have to work that part out yourself as I made no notes on this, I also had to order twice to get it right. The washers can still be found on something with a 4.0. so you should be able to find a set of washers in a PYP graveyard. I made washers because the 4.0 head swap requires larger washers to bridge the gap between the manifolds. You should be able to use the original design dome washers. The studs came from McMaster Carr, i think someone has posted the page already. Don't thread them in too deep and use locktite to hold them in place.

there is one stud for each hole in the side of the head.
