New guy here. I'm interested in anyone's thoughts on the various seats on the market. The scrambler I just bought has old torn lowbacks, so I'm looking to buy some new seats, without spending a lot. What do yall think of the Rugged Ridge, Bestop, or Smittybilt basic seats? I'm wondering about the durability of the cheap ones. My CJ7 has the Bestop Trailmax II's, and they have held up well, though the jeep hadnt been used very much before I got it. I know that much more can be spent on seats, but I gotta consider the other things it'll want too. Thanks!

See the "info i'd thought I'd share" thread in the misc section I posted up info in there for seat replacement options.

I have a pair of mastercraft seats in mine and although they were a bit of work to get mounted right they are a big improvement over the stock low backs I had. Not for big people though but neither is a CJ5 .:D

correct me if im wrong but i dont think you can really go wrong with any of those from what i know. i think it depends more on what type of seat you want. but ill tell you the seats i have enjoyed the most were these plastic racing bucket seats in a Suzuki Samurai i had. absolutly no maintenance when they got muddy or when i spilt a drink i just hosed them out and wiped off. even if the samurai had been in the sun and was hot i would just hose the seats and wipe them off and hop right in haha i loved them. just my opinion.

I bought some of the cheaper seats, bad choice as the material is not one I think is going last. Next time I am going with Bestop or Mastercraft,
Anyway, seats are a personal thing and you need to be able to sit in them before you buy as how they fit is something you will get real personal with on long days on bumpy trails

I bought the steel horse seats from 4wd hardware about 9 years ago and love them. I don't know if they still sell them but the quality is very good and the springs hold up well. I would buy them again. I think I paid about 225 each and it was well worth it.

I pulled mine from an MR2, they had a half dozen adjustments.
Side bolstering, lumbar, front rear tilt, amazing seats for a stock factory seat. Cost $50 for both and a few min of my time. Seriously check that link mentioned, got a buddy up north with seats from a Mercedes clk, leather, heated, etc.
