I just got a '79 CJ5 and the rear floor is rusted as well as there were some cut outs by the previous owner to install a new gas tank. I was thinking of using panel adhesive to lay in a new panel made by Classic Enterprises. Should I install the new panel right over the existing or should I cut out the old, leaving a perimeter tab for the new to sit in?

If it were me I would cut out the old floor first. Get rid of all the old chopped up rusty stuff. Just my opinion.:)

Thanks. That was what I was thinking. Anyone have photos of a cut out rear floor? I wondered if there were supports going across or if there was anything mounted there that would prevent me from using a right angle grinder to cut it out?
