I need a source or some redneck engineering ideas for a 3x3 chunk of rubber to use as tub mounts.

Don't they sell lengths of tub mounting rubber in the catalogs, cut-to-size, for mounting up fiberglass bodies? That ought to work, I'd think.
As for the hockey puck idea, those are too hard for their own good. The body mount needs to have some degree of flex in it greater than what a puck can provide.
