Big day today!! going for the inspection sticker. Not really worried about the sticker so much as the trip. The CJ is registered in another county at the address of the ranch. going to be about a 2oo mile round trip, dodging state and local police in there ever vigilant pursuit of law breakers, as in those of us driving arround with no inspection stickers.

I guess I have to admit that the CJ has driven, on it's own power, around the block 6 or 8 times in the last 12 years. 200 miles is a pretty fair shake down.

This is adventure! YEA!!:D

Just keep telling yourself:
"these are not the droids (JEEP) you're looking for" (said in my best Obi-wan Kenobi voice)

and they'll let you pass...:chug:

They won't pay any attention to an old man driving a bright yellow jeep :D

I've heard it's common place for the police to leave oldies alone, but you get back to us with the results ;)

Good luck and remember you can go where no Police car dare.

Had a great day!! about AMC 150 miles. got the inspection sticker. Managed to crack the fuse to the brake lights, that complicated things a bit. I am having some overheating issues, I think I have a handle on that, tomorrow. Got about 15 MPG, about what I expected.

I know I got the eyeball from one state trooper and two small town cops but none of them was paying much attention to the blank place where the inspection sticker was supposed to be.:D

I still hate the soft top, hopefully it will grow on me over time.
I did enjoy going door less.:grinjeep:

you don't need to see his papers, this is not the Jeep you are looking for.

I will be sure to give this a try the next time it comes up.

Turn your hat sideways and lean waaaaaay back in your seat and see how far you get before you get stopped.

Sounds like a good shakedown run.

Congrats on passing.

Sure glad we don't need stickers up here. It might be the troopers don't want to get out of their squads for little stuff when it's -20.

Glad to here you made it. :) How did you "crack" the brake light fuse? And what dont you like about the soft top? The noise? No doors with the rear window in will make it worse.

The fuse had a crack up near the metal end and the element was burnt/broken up inside the cap. The worst part was that the circuit would give 12VDC but it was not capable of actually delivering any current. Yea I know, that is a really tough one to get your head around, If I had not had my kid brother to argue this problem with I would still be hunting for this.:D

The soft top is a bit noisy, I think the part that annoyed me the most was the Velcro on the top of the door openings popping open to flap in the wind every now and then.

I am sure that the day will come when the roof does a good job of keeping me warm or not allowing rain to fall on my favorite head and I will grudgingly accept it as a good thing.:D
