My first CJ7 with 97,500 miles on it when purchased
I will be leaving on a 2 week trip and would like to know the best way to "maintain" the jeep while I'm away.
Should I disconnect the battery, etc. And when I return what should I look out for?
The jeep will be staying at my friend's home in the driveway.

Also (for future reference) if I was to be gone more than 2 weeks (month or longer) without driving the jeep
what would be a good way to handle the CJ?

Suggestions?? :) thanks in advance

2 weeks ? Just park it in the shade and take the keys. If you have some aftermarket electrical(s) that draw even when the engine is shut off. Then I`d consider disconnecting the battery.

you can't find covered storage??!

For longer term storage I've used "bounce" dryer sheets to help prevent mice damage. Just toss a couple under the seats, in the back and glove box. Seems mice don't like the smell and it will be "fresh" for you.;)

:laugh: I should toss a whole box in my garage then........2 weeks is not long at all. If you have something draining battery juice then unplug it, if not just park it....for a month or longer put a battery tender on it and fuel stabilizer in the tank :chug:

I spend 6+ weeks in long term parking at my airport - don't sweat it! :chug:

Lol....I spend months at a time with my CJ down for one reason or another. :notworthy:

2 weeks is nothing to worry about :chug:

Exactly,

So, UKCJ7, have a great vacation /and or time off - don't worry about that CJ. It will be there, working fine when you get back! :chug:

Before I bought mine my uncle had it in his garage. It sat since 1998 without being started much. I bought it july of 2010 and we put a hot battery in it, fresh gas, topped off the brake fluid, and drove it home 3 hours. I wouldn't recomend letting one sit for that long but you get my point 2 weeks wont hurt it.

No sweat then? :)
I was told about fuel stabilizer. What is the purpose for this and the performance of the
CJ?

Bounce dryer sheets? a neighbor was telling me he's used these to rid spiders..
As for the mice, well I may come back to a freshly laundered smelling jeep.
Maybe I should leave my laundry in the CJ and come back to it all cleaned and folded! :)

After several months gasoline will break down. It will also oxidize and turn into a gummy tar-like substance. A fuel stabilizer will try to prevent this breakdown and prolong the life of gas stored over long periods. For anything less than 2 months I wouldn't worry about it.
