I'm looking for a nice set of side mirrors for the CJ. Either I run both CJ mirrors or something else since I love to drive my jeep without doors. Who does????? :chug:
What is everyone running? Show us your pictures.
Either run the YJ/TJ mirrors in adapters that bolt to the windshield hinges or get the mirrors that the stems slide into the top bracket for the doors or the side of windshield hinges.

Thanks!

Not sure what qualifies as cheap junk but there are a lot of different producers. Summit racing and Quadratec have multiple options.

All of them have plastic attachment points and flimsy thin tube mounting brackets. I made my own bracket arms with solid aluminum, I can use them as a grab handle to step in the cab. Can you tell me if the pivot ball on your mirrors is plastic or steel…

Couple of options if you don't like the stock CJ style mirrors. Some bolt into the upper door hinge. A pain if you want to then install the doors back on. Then another that bolts to the windshield hinge. Need to drill/top holes or use an adaptor bracket on a CJ since they are made for TJs. All less than $50 for the pair. Warrior Products makes a relocation bracket to attach mirrors/lights to the windshield hinges for when the doors are off. Pricey though at over $100.

I've often wondered how hard would it be to use powered mirrors from a newer jeep, fab up a bracket to mount them, and mount a control button on the dash or in the center console to control them. But the squared look seems odd for a CJ.

Don't forget that inside mirror on the windshield. I salvaged one at the junk yard from a car that has the map lights in it. Then I ran wiring inside the windshield frame from where the wiper motor mounts, up inside the left side of the frame, and up to the top center where the mirror is. This is connected it to the headlight switch and the courtesy lights under the dash. So now I have individually controlled map lights (buttons on the bottom of the mirror) plus control of both mirror lights when I use the headlight switch to turn on the under-dash courtesy lights. A paid of LED bulbs in the mirror as well since I'm all LEDs inside and out.

What mirror is this one. ?2B8E1813-58FA-4A71-8822-FE8EBB32B956.webp

Those alternatives don’t have a convex right side like I want to retain. The original late CJ squared style is actually great, and that’s what I want. I am ok with black or SS as long as they have metal pivot ball and convex.

Your windshield mounted mirror swap is great, btw. Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks. I have my original black that are in great shape, but am considering a mod for an add on and would need an alternate when needed.

Get the CJ mirrors. I don't know what they were thinking when they made the Wranglers. Mirrors mounted on removable doors?
CJ mirrors are inexpensive large and effective.

I also like them because I can move them out of the way when I go on narrow trails.

I use those mirrors, problem being the stupid spacers that split ( stock plastic) and the aluminum ones you can buy are not deep enough so you wind up modifying the mirror arm. I guess if my buddy had the lathe last time I did this we could have bored the aluminum deeper. What I really want is a west coast style small mirror, that holds in place on high wind days, Shouldnt be that tough to build the brackets.

Could not find mirrors with metal swivels but thought I would post pics. Thanks.
