Does anyone make a mount for an extinguisher this big? I might just have to leave it behind the back seat, but I would rather not have the thing bouncing around all over the place. It is a steel 10 pounder, so it has some size to it. Any ideas on the best way to mount something like this?

Can't tell from the picture, but it is full charged.

Can you find a round pipe of some sort that is slightly wider that can be bolted to some part o the cab or rollbar that would act like a sleeve for this to sit in? That would keep it from rolling around. Just a thought.

That mother is large!!!

Try and find a fire and or safety supply store nearby. Might only be open weekdays. Those brackets are extremely common as CJ said. The safety folks can check your fire extinguisher as well, it doesn't do you a lot of good to have it mounted and it not work when you need it!

This won't be too expensive Dear! That's what I keep saying. Over and over again.

My training officer gave it to me. It works. It's just a little old. I should have it hydrostatic tested at some point after I discharge it. It's fine for now. I was asking more along the line of: who has mounted one in their jeep and what did they use? I know it's common. They are everywhere. I've never seen a 10 pound in a jeep though. Usually 2.5 or 5 pound.

I would mount it in your garage and buy a smaller one for your jeep. They don't cost much and they come with a mount.:D
You could buy 3 smaller fire extinguishers for the cost of one of these 10 pound extinguisher mounts.

I just try and go for good brakes for when the smoke is detected and good insurance. I think that might be the only way to get the build money back!🙉🙈🙊

ZIP TIE!! Zip it to your roll at.

Humm so are you using quick-release zip ties?

Years back I had a fire under the dash on the trail. A fast reaction with 5 pounder saved the day. (Wick release mount)

Many events around here absolutely will not allow a zip tied extinguished.

Thanks fellas. I think that mounting the 10 pound may be more work than I really want to get in to just to mount an extinguisher. I will probably just use it as a garage or house extinguisher. I think one of these would be a better solution in a jeep:
Rugged Ridge 13305.20 - Rugged Ridge Sport Bar Fire Extinguisher Holder for 55-06 Jeep® CJ-5, CJ-7, CJ-8 Scrambler, Wrangler YJ, TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec

Thanks for the feedback

Twist the extinguisher and it snaps right off. Doesn't work in a mount. Many people are idiots and will all fall victim to the Darwin theory too.

Good call I don't think you will ever need that big of a fire extinguisher in your Jeep. I would put it in the garage.
