Given that all the hardware and pieces were there would a YJ soft top work on a CJ7 ? I'm currently running a YJ hard top and a guy I work with offered me an almost new top and every piece of hardware. I'm more of a soft top prison anyway so would it work?

I dont really know, but if the hard top fits, then the soft top should as well.

BTW, does your friend have a rebuilt AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l laying around he wants to get rid of?:D

Yes. The soft top will work. I am running and early Yj soft top for hard doors...

Yup it sure will. I had one on my 85. Just make sure it will work with your doors if your not getting the ones that came with it. Some Yjs used a square corner door at the top that wont work correctly with steel doors or round cornered soft doors.
