Body spare tire rear carrier

why is it so hard to find a spare tire mount for my 1963 CJ5 ? it does not have to swing out, just carry the tire

I understand your frustration but the only thing you are going to find is a universal one or do some pretty creative fab work.
How much fab are willing to do?
I have installed many on the tail gate. The biggest thing is that you need to reinforce the back side of the tail gate with a very large piece of steel so the load is distributed evenly.

Here is one that I have seen on a CJ where the owner added a receiver hitch.

And a very easy one to to use but will need to spaced out from the tailgate (will need reinforcement). It's designed for the side but can be put any where.
