Speedometer Cable

Installing a new speedometer cable this weekend, anything I should be aware of?

Using speedo lube and careful installation into both ends. Cleaning out the cable housing would be a good also.

With a brand new inner cable and outer shield, other than graphite inside what else is necessary for success? [Just trying to keep from breaking my new stuff when I put it on shortly!]
