If you are working on the 84 Jeep it will be the new spindle socket which has 4 teeth at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00. you should be able to find this at just about any auto parts store it fits a lot of other vehicles.

Tom's Bronco Parts - Dana 30/44 Front End Bearing Spindle Nut Socket, 66-77 Early Ford Bronco, New

does this look like something i could use as the socket, it seems as though it works on both the Dana 44 and Dana 30 . I'm at that point right now and on hold. Or should i just go with what seems like people have posted on using the 2" 1/16 the only think is i would have to order this part, and that one i just posted i think they have here at a local parts store.

I use one like cheepjeep has a link to. I just brought a nut with me to my local auto parts store so I knew it was the right size. Most auto part places carry spindle nut sockets.

mine is a 85 and it took the 2 1/6 socket i tried the others before i bought the one i have now no work. a buddy of mine has a 79 and the 2 1/6 worked on his as well, i couldn't get a regular socket on the nut it had to be the thin walled socket in the link i posted
