Stabbing the dizzy

I am cranking till finger blows off the number one plug hole. I then stabbed to get the rotor to number one. It just VTRs is, no fire though. What am I doing wrong?

The position does not have anything to do with weather you get a spark. If you were out of position,180*, and had a spark it would backfire through the carb. I would suggest you check your ignition wiring. first question , do you have 12V from the switch to the coil??

It must be to early in the morning for me, what does VTRs mean.
As IO said it should have fire no matter where the dist. is set.

You're 180 degrees out.

Bad coil, one of the posts (+) is cracked halfway down.
