That's why I said to confirm your idle mix settings. Do you know how to do this?
Your FP is fine-Stop throw'n $$$ at it till you know what the issue is.
BTW: Unless it's a really bad vacuum leak-The soapy water just bogs the engine a bit. What you want to watch for, are the bubbles being sucked in.

I don't know how to do multiple quotes in one reply so I'm going to do the best I can with this one reply.

As far as do I know how to confirm/set the idle mixture screws? No sir not really I'm still trying to figure out this whole carburator thing.
Maybe I'm not looking hard enough on google but I've tried to find a layout of this 2150 but haven't had much luck yet finding one that's clear enough to make out, most of them are blury on my phone.

I'm assuming the idle mixture screws are the two in the front lines f the carburetor down low? If so I have screwed them all the way in but not tight, backed them out two turns each, put a vac gauge on the carb and made small adjustments to each screw making sure what I do to one I do to the other. After each adjustment I bump the throttle till I had the highest reading on the gauge. If that's not correct if any way possible could you please point me in the right direction?

After tearing this carb apart 4 or 5 times, yes one of the times it was still on the jeep, but the other times it was pulled off then torn apart, I've cleaned what I think is all the jets ( think= not having a good break down to look at)
I've found two jets that I know for sure, tear the top half off then there are two brass fittings towards the front that are stamped 49, I've pulled those out and cleaned them with a tip cleaned, then blowed carb cleaner through them, I've blowed cleaner through the two accelerator pump nipples, there's two brass tubes that run from the top down that has a brass sleeve around them I've cleaned those with a tip cleaner along with spraying leaner through them, I've shot cleaner through other nipples and offices that I've seen. I'm sure there is something I'm missing but just not for sure.
I could definitely send this thing off to have it rebuilt but that won't teach me anything, so I'll eventually get it figured out and corrected, with yalls patience and help.

You mentioned a mid jet that's where my problems are is mid range of the throttle, where is that jet located?

I'm not running MSD or anything fancy, just a regular aftermarket coil, the reason I was messing with timing is because I thought maybe somehow it might have jumped since it was so hard to start when I started messing with it the other day.

Really the only thing I've spent money on is a $5 fuel filter, and about $14 worth of plugs. Everything else has came off of a parts jeep, which was nothing more than the coil.

Again I do appreciate yalls help and patience with me. Hopefully y'all stick with me long enough to get this worked out but if you get tired and frustrated I can understand why.

My 1980 AMC 304 would randomly sputter and shut down. After trying everything twice I found that the egr valve was binding. I disconnected it and now months with no more problems. If you have one still and it's not seating that could be it. Mine has openings in the bottom that you can feel through to see if it is seating.

Not for sure if is binding or not but if I reach in with my finger tips and I guess it would be close it the engine will die.

It is supposed to do that as you are letting in excessive exhaust gas into the combustion chamber. It is only supposed to let in small amounts, this will also cool down the valves and chambers.

If my memory serves me right, there is a plate inside that should be all the way down near your fingertips. If not or if only on one side this could be your problem. I pulled the vacuum line and saturated it with lubricant. Then once I knew it was the problem I plugged the vacuum lines and presto, no more problem.

OP-When you took the carb apart-Did you replace the throw away components like accelerator pump, gaskets etc?
Have you confirmed the correct float setting?

No sir just tore it apart cleaned everything and put it back together. The carb is only about a year and a half to two years old so luckily the gaskets were all in good enough shape they didn't tear.

I called Oreillys this morning and as luck would have it they had the rebuild kit so I picked it up.

Now with that being said, a buddy of mine had a Holley that's been sitting on a jeep for about four or five years not in use. I really had my doubts about wheather it was going to work or not. We decided to put it on, and I be dang if she ain't purring like a kitten... other than the accelerator pump is dripping gas.
He use to have the box for this carb in his shop so he is going to look for it to get he model so I can order the diaphragm.
So far the only numbers I've found on the carb is 5925 I've looked that up and came up with a little bit but not a whole lot of information.

Now I'm sitting here with the MC2150 and a rebuild kit.
As many times as I took it apart I don't think there is much to it, but according to the destructions that came with it, they don't make it look as easy as everyone claims it is to rebuild.

Part of me wants to go ahead and rebuild it and have it sitting ready to go, then he other part of me says to just hold off till I need it, so I don't have to tear it apart and clean what ever may get in it and stop it up between now and when ever I need it.
I can always put it on the shelf and put the kit beside it so when the time comes I already have everything.

I would like to thank everyone for all the help you have given and for being patient with me through all of this.

Hi there, do you have by any chance a clear fuel Filter ? Something that has happened to you, I am having similar issues. So far it has been determined that is because of a lack of gas coming into the carburator. I recently installed a new fuel filter between the pump and carburator and it helped. Because my fuel filter is clear I can see the fuel inside and when its filled more than half way, my Jeep runs better. My Jeep seems to have another filter running between the gas tank and the fuel pump, and I say seems because I have to take it back to the shop where I installed a new filter and will probably take it out.
