Going to start a rebuild and Needing some advice . This CJ7 is all stock except for a 2 inch lift.
So , Can a Rubicon ride / lift suspension would work on a CJ7 ?
I have a 5.4 l / 4R70W Transmission . What modifications will I need to do too motor mounts and Transfer Case ?

Thanks

5.4 Ford? If so then yes, new motor mounts, radiator, shifter and will have to change lengthen/ shorten some of the wiring for sure not sure of the Transmission to Transfer Case tho

Yes Ford 5.4. I was told yesterday the 5.4 is to wide. It will be hell getting the headers to fit because of fenders. My have to rethink this.LOL

I'm a Ford guy, and the 5.4 is a good engine (my parents have 4 over the last 18 or so years with no issues from any of them). But I think you would be better off in the long run with a more common swap, such as an LS. And in general, the Ford Auto's don't adapt as easily as the GM ones (mainly because adpaters aren't common because not many people use them).

The OHC ford engines look wider than a tall deck big block chevy. There is a definite reason why the most common swaps into CJ's are the SBC and LS family of engines. If you have to have a blue oval powerplant, the 5.0 out of a Mustang/Explorer/Mountaineer fits pretty good in a CJ and there is a huge amount of support and parts for these engines. I think aftermarket stuff for the 5.4 and later 6.2 pickup engines is pretty non-existent. Good motors, just to damn wide to fit in anything without a lot of fab work.

Pics?

Welcome!

Thanks guys for the advice. think I'll find a better engine swap. I'll update y'all when I get started.

Thanks Again.
