I have a rebuilt 258 and i am trying to get it started for the first time so i am chasing down all the gremlins. The jeep starts but will only stay running for just a few seconds. I have attached a link of the jeep running below. I know this is vague but does anyone have a suggestion as to what could be wrong? Thanks ahead of time.

Also jeep has no muffler on at this point

Is the fuel pump pressurizing ok...if not might be running on the gas in the carb..

An engine needs three things to run- fuel, air, spark.

From your video it sounds like your fuel is cutting out. Looks like there is plenty of air so I would say to check fuel system with a pressure gauge near the throttle body unit, and also double check your distributor and timing specs and all wire connections to the distributor.

You can also spray a small amount of starting fluid through the air cleaner (not the open throat of the EFI) as the engine starts to die out. If it continues to run on the starting fluid, at least you know it is a fuel problem.

Check your fuel pump.....

I would go with the pressure gauge plan. On my CJ with efi, there is a tee fitting located close the fuel inlet of the throttle body to screw in a fuel pressure gauge for testing.
