All, is this a saginaw 800 steering gear? The input shaft seal is leaking. I don’t know the history or how old it is so was going to order a new one from rock auto.
Yous indeed appears to be a Saginaw. Notice the "S in a square" logo on the bottom adjacent to the output shaft. The 800 and the 808 are the two common models in CJs. The 800 has a 70mm piston while the 808 has an 80mm piston. If you measure the end cap, the 70mm is about 3" across while the 80mm is close to 3.5".
Saginaw gearboxes pre-1980 will have 5/8" and 11/16" SAE inverted flare fittings while gearboxes after 1980 will have 16mm and 18mm O-ring fittings.
