Steering Column Grommet

Steering Column Grommet
Thanks again for all your help. I put the column back together (not tilt). The upper bearing is in good shape and the tube dosen't wiggle near as bad as it did. Here is a real crappy cell phone video of how it is now. I'll probably live with it, Like I said it's a lot better now.

Mark, is that just the plastic or metal collar or the whole column if it's just the collar I think it's only there to cover the multiswitch wires that run down the column. It's just a visual think and has no bearing on the steering itself. If your in the driver seat and try to move the wheel does the wheel move about?

Its just the plastic tube that moves. The shaft and everything else is in great shape. No slop or play in the steering at all. The tube just covers the wiring and the shaft and the rod that operates the ignition switch, lower down on the column. It's just a little annoying but....

 this whole time I thought you were trying to get the column to be more secure. Facepalm! Try some vacuum hose, slice to down the middle and wrap it around the opening in the cover.

Good idea!!!

And to think I was sitting on the nugget all along!
