Help! I'm trying to remove the glass tub from my 1970 CJ5 and need to remove the steering column. It's connected to a manual box and I've loosened the clamp and the 3 screws on the top of the steering box. How do I remove the column?
Spray some PB Blaster in there for a day or so. Then brace yourself real good and start yanking. Given your location, I'd say its just rusted in there real good.
there is also 4 - 2 on each side just behind the dash plate 1/2 bolts they need to be removed also. thats whats holding you up. the ones on the fire wall are just a clamping device. just removed mine this weekend.
