hello all, i,m taking out the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l from my 79' CJ7 ....putting in i think a 74-77 year AMC 304 .....one diff i noticed so far..(elec. wise.). is on the dist.the plugs are diff. "for the pick up coil.".. the 304 has two wire hook up and the pick up coil wire on my 258 has the 3 plug hook up??? any sug???:)???????

Hey shawn1979cj7! :chug:

According to my documentation for your 79, the red wire is hot, the dark green wire is for the original ignition module and the last wire goes to the dist.

Since you have an older V8 without an ignition module, just don't hook up the dark green wire... :)

thank you very much admin!!!:chug: that is very helpful:) i'm new at this, but i'm unemployed so i have lots of time..but started getting alittle bored trying to figure it out!!ha ha .....i have the T-150 Transmission . hooked up to the Dana 20 transfer...from what i read, should be a good set up...mainly going to use jeep for daily driver...ok bud thanks again shawn......:notworthy:
