Transfer Case instructions state that front hubs must be locked (set to 4X4) before selecting four wheel drive. There are a few reasons I want to be in low range on dry pavement (creeping along in slow traffic or waiting in a line of cars stopping and starting going up hill or driving in a parade ect.), so what harm can come from selecting four wheel drive low without locking the hubs?
