You do realize that you will also need to replace the offset AMC20 rear with the centered version?
 
i didn't think about that, but i was going to go to a newer front end for the disc brakes anyway or possibly scout axles , so changing the rear wouldn't be that bad
 
You can keep your rear axle and go with a D-18 case, same setup I ran. The D18 comes with 2.46 gearing and twin sticks.

Another plus with keeping the rear offset axle is on the trail. Trail tire tracks get deeper and deeper while in between those tracks become higher. When rocks stick up in the center the offset axle miss them.

Last time I wheeled Jerico MT everyone with center diffs in my group got hung up on a large rock at the top of a climb, with my offset rear I walked right up without hitting the rock.
