I recently acquired a T-18 Transmission I want to put in my 64 with the 134 f head. I need a shorter input shaft but other than that I have all the adapters to bolt it in. My question is has anyone done this using mikes short shaft kit? The old 10 spline 15/16" input is really hard to find! Any help is appreciated!

With the long input shaft you obviously have the Borg-Warner version of the T-18 built specifically for Jeep for the late 70's CJ and also the Jeep Trucks. You say a 10 spline 15/16" input shaft???? Jeep input shafts were 1-1/8" 10 spline while the standard Ford version of the T-18 used a 1-1/16" 10 spline. I would would check that measurement again............Novak Adapters also offers a short input shaft conversion kit for "Some" of the Jeep transmissions...........there is also allot of good info on there site so check it out..........Not all of the gears are still available for your Tranny so it is important to identify which version you have as there was at least 12 different ones. Likewise there was two different low gear ratios a 4.02 and a 6.32 which I believe the only conversion kits they make are for the 6.32 ratio.

Thanks for the input. My stock T-90 has the 15/16" 10 spline according to Novak. The input shaft on the T-18 -b is 9 1/2" where I need it down around 7". I don't have a spare T-90 yet to help get an idea on what I need. Hopefully this will be cheaper than the np435 conversion ( the adapters for that are $500 a piece and require 2) or herms unit that sells for 1500.

Bob, Your post is somewhat confusing..........OK you have a Borg Warner T-18 Jeep version 4-speed is that correct? The input shaft is too long which is a common problem with the Jeep T-18 version.

After reading your second post your reference to the 15/16" input shaft is being made to your old stock T-90 3-speed.....Now I get that.
Standard input shaft stick out on a conventional manual Transmission is 6.500-6.625" to fit a conventional bell housing depth. Saying you need an input shaft "down around 7 inches " will get you in trouble" when talking with folks.

Not sure why you need a spare T-90 to see what you need? Nor do I understand the reference to a NP-435? if you already have a T-18 ?

Or is it the fact that perhaps nobody makes an adapter to go from the F-134 to a T-18 but do make one that goes to a 435?

It's allot easier to help someone when the folks here understand what it is your trying to accomplish........jumping around helps no one.
