Hey guys, quick ? Replacing oil and gonna do the mount too. I see two dolts on skid plate and one off to the drivers side in the skid plate. Do I remove those bolts, and drop the skid plate. My confusion is if the rubber mount mounts between skid and tranny. In the kit I got a Transfer Case mount with two bushings and a bolt and just want to be sure I'm correct. Also worried if that skid plate carries any load?

THANKS

Yes your thinking is right and yes the skid plate holds up the Transmission /transfer so you will need to support them with a floor jack.

Ok, thanks. Should be simple enough. Wtf can't they make it easy to fill transmissions and diffs? What is the third bolt over to the passengers side doing?

I'm not sure I guess you will find out when you drop the skid plate :D

Flux capacitor bolt? :)

Ok thanks, just dropped a fresh 360 in, motor mounts good! Would a bad Transmission mount cause vibration in driveline? I can feel it towards the middle to back of cab

The torque arm bolt is floppy loose

Have you checked your u-joints? What kind of motor mounts did you use?

Factory mounts. Replacing tranny and transfer mounts now. How do I inspect joints

U-joints should be tight as you would try to shake them up and down when mounted in place. I am sure that there are internet pages on that. A good u-joint should last quite a long time, I think you should consider driveline geometry for a vibration issue, after you get that tranny mount and torque arm tight.

The tranny had poly mounts. Put the rubber in then went on to the torque arm. If I put the rubber bushings with the small diameters facing each other, there is an inch of play. Does it go flat side to flat side? Should it be tight with no play?

Is there supposed to be an arm connected? Torque arm would up imply an arm. There is no arm. There is a plate under the tranny?

I'm not sure what the oem design was supposed to have. I didn't find anything in the fsm or a Haynes about it. I would think no play at all would be optimal, but you would like to have the engine mounts absorb as much vibration as possible. Which makes rubber a better choice, but the poly will help prevent engine/Transmission /Transfer Case from twisting a bit more.

This is a pic of the oem torque arm that was with my T-5 . It fits between the Transmission and the Transmission mount thru the two holes on the left side. The large hole on the right attaches to the skid plate with a bolt and some bushings and washers. Like I said, it is to stop the Transmission from rotating.

Done. Nothing is better. I have gearbox issues. Grinding feeling while clutch disengaged in gear while moving. I think the 5 inch lift and 35 are gone. May have a pro rebuild the T-5 and Dana 300 and get the drive angle correct

Your sure your clutch is disengaging all the way right?

Yeah, I'll check the linkage tonight. Might have it too far out, but my pressure point is almost all the way pedal out.
