tailgate or not

i was just wondering do all CJ7 have tailgates, or is there a year that they didnt put a tailgate on just as the CJ5

CJ7 always had a tailgate but the CJ5 didn't always. My '79 CJ5 doesn't have a tailgate that opens.

just wondering. i thought it would be cool to have if there was a year that jeep didnt install a tailgate. i mean i cound weld and do body work or just let it alone. thanx
