Hey ! I still haven’t got to take off full blast on my project with the jeep, but I did pick up a great running takeout AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with a Weber carb already swapped on ready to sit in and go recently. My other engine is stuck from sitting so I’m gonna build it while I run this one for a while. The engine I bought is out of an 89 Wrangler. It is ready to go carb to oil pan even got the starter, radiator and a/c compressor so should be a quick easy swap. I have 2 questions.. First, will the 89 distributor work with my nutter bypass and a factory style ignition module ? It looks like it should but I didn’t know what changes were made between 86-89 distributors... Second , I also got the 89 auto Transmission still mated with the engine.. everything I researched seemed to point that it should still be a TF999 ?? Is this correct ? And if so will my Dana 300 bolt up to it with no adaptation ? I know the cases in the wranglers dropped different sides but I have no knowing of my original 999 and would love to be able to sit this in as a unit. Many thanks in advance!!
