That was with a 6cyl. I think the 4cyl had lower gears.

Thank you Dave,Brian,and Longhorn! im really debating on this one i want it but then i dont want my fiancee to buy it for me for X-mas which she will, but i get alot of extra electrical parts,axles,Transmission ,a brand new windshield and tailgate and along with that its had the body work done and he is willing to drive and meet me for 350 bucks thats pretty good. But id have to go buy a engine hoist to get my old tub off along with that borrow a flatbed trailer maybe. I'm going to talk to 2lostinspace (pretty much my jeep advisor lol) and see what he thinks.

you can rent a hoist pretty cheap or find 5 friends, throw a BYOB jeep tub party. Just make sure everything is ready to lift when everyone shows up so its off and on before attention spans runs out.

Too much talk. If you want a Jeep, you're going to have to know how to strike when the iron is hot. At this point, you have been given lots of good advice, and you should be armed with enough knowledge to get into the game. If you're serious about building, you're going to have to make it happen, so when you find a deal, get in the truck and make the trip.
Use what you have learned, If It's good, make the deal on the spot, and find a way to pick it up later. You can over think it to the point where you will never get started, and It's only a short trip to go look. A quick phone conversation is fine, but you have to remember that people fall int three columns. The liars, the uninfirmed, and the truthful. All of them can talk till the cows come home, but you will never know who you're dealing with until you go see them in person. Nothing can be done unless you have a solid frame to work from. Period. Axles and running gear will be available for longer than I'll be alive, so don't sweat the small . Next step is a tub. Just the tub. You need a tub to build a Jeep, and any additional parts that come with a tub is just icing on the cake. So just find a good solid tub. From what you have posted this time, I would have been in the truck with cash, making the trip that day. Rent a hoist?? 4 friends and 45 seconds is what it takes to pull a tub. And while you're talking to people, SOMEONE is buying your tub!

I have to wait till the 20th of december my fiancee wants to but it for me for christmas! i dont have the money due to being unemloyed and only getting a 155 weekly and i have to buy her a present so i would be all over that but i kind of cant be. I wish it could all fit in the bed of my truck but its only 5 1/2 feet long so there comes finding a flat bed trailer again...

I hope this post from cold water ends up in the helpful threads forum. I know I would like to be able to re read it every time I need an extra cup of "get off your <-BAD WORD->". If I needed a tub and that tub came into my reach and I was able to talk the owner down as much as you have, I would own it right now.
I will now remind you that the jeep is a toy, don't spend money on it you may need to make the payment on your pick up next month.

With a $17 rebuild kit and $15 can of carb cleaner you get to explore the wondrous world of the carter one barrel carburetor, yea it's not the best carb in the world but it's the one you have, make it work. For almost nothing you can drop the tank and clean out the sludge that wacked out the carb. A twenty dollar fiber glass repair kit and some time on line makes the tub you have serviceable and you are now a fiberglass guru! I very much agree with cold water your over thinking so pick a place and get started. I think you are crossing the river to fetch water, you have more than enough to work with setting right in the driveway. It is not a destination it is a journey, it's about learning. and right now it's about doing the most with the least which can be a whole lot of fun in itself.
