1982 Scrambler. 4.2 TF999 Dana 300 D30 AMC20
I finally pulled my 82 scrambler 3 speed auto TF999 out of the garage for the first time(been sitting 10 years or so , tranny rebuilt 30-40k miles ago). I had to rev the engine up quite a bit to very slightly move in reverse, or any gear for that matter. It feels like the Transmission is not engaging at all, almost like a halfway pushed in clutch on a manual. I was about a pint low on ATF, filled, with no improvement. Can someone point me in the first few things I should be looking at?

You checked fluid with it idling on a level surface?
If its been leaking and sitting for 10yrs it's more than a pint low.

Shift it through gears and recheck level multiple times

Good call Basod. I didn’t have the tranny heated up enough, after rechecking, running through the gears multiple times, I ending up putting a total of 2.5 quarts. Guess I have a leak to find.
Thank you

2.5 quarts over 10yrs isn't that bad, especially not knowing if it was a bit low when your stored it.
I've had several TH350's that would take 1 quart plus if it sat for a month.

Common places are shift shaft seals, fill tube, tail housing seal.
