One Summit Racing Street and Strip Coil
One adapter cable
Six new non-resistor core spark plugs
One set spark plug wire seperators

looks like some nice toys. have you ever heard of the team rush upgrade for the cap and rotor off of like a 78 ford inline. ive done this and got rid of alot of missing problems i had.

Next time he's there tell him to bring me some cool stuff too! Why do you get to have all the fun?

I replaced my cap and rotor and coil with the above mentioned ford parts and use a chevy 4 pin module.

I have heard of the teamrush modification. I spent a lot of reading and asked a lot of questions not only online but to people I know. And I ended up choosing this route. Really when I sat down and did the math, to buy all of the needed parts for the teamrush (still needed a new dizzy(diagnosed bad internal bushings), cap, rotor, adapters, my ICM was going so it needed replaced again too), and what I purchased, the difference was only about $AMC 150 or $175 dollars.

He won't be back anytime soon, this had to get approval from the CFO of the house, and that ain't me :D

I have the same CDI box installed in my CJ, and believe me, you WANT the wide spaced terminal dist. cap! That thing pumps out so much juice, it will eat that little cap up in no time.
Doesn't cost but a few bucks for the cap, rotor, spacer, and you can trade the back-ordered wires for the right ones.

Just my 2cents worth.

Definately post an update on this once you get it running. I was gonna Team Rush my Scrambler but Im interested in this too. Was your choice based on the parts you already new needed replaced or do you believe this is the better way to go? Thanx

EB have to agree that you need to upgrade to the Teamrush spacer, cap, rotor it will make a world of difference. I have done this upgrade to every CJ I've ever owned since i learned of it. Funny though I have two sets of new stock cap, rotors, and plug wires, coils sitting in the shed :D

if you want to uses your stock coil there is a wire set with the right coil wire for it. i didnt go with the ford coil though, i put in a msd blaster 3 coil cause i didnt want to miss with the pigtail for the ford coil.

My thoughts...

Try your new setup - see how it works then make a decision. If you have problems then consider the change...

Don't assume that your new equipment will be a problem.

TRY IT FIRST! :)

i think at tax time im gonna get that box. let us know how it works

This is going to get me flamed, problably tar and feathered, and most likely spoken to by CJ, but seriously? I haven't even got the stuff in the Jeep yet and you all are telling me basically that I've wasted my money, and I'm doing it all wrong. Thanks guys. NO really, thanks.

I want to let you know something, I am not an idiot. I have worked on lawn mowers, farm tractors, semi trucks, Limited late and late model dirt track cars and everything in between. I was a mechanic for three years before I joined the Navy, with my inspection liscence for the state of PA, and was working my way toward my ASE cert. I've been in the Navy for almost 11 years and I am a highly trained, very skilled and decorated electronics technician. Technicain, not engineer. I know how to fix stuff.

Give the teamrush :dung: a break. Holy :dung:, have you been to their website? Index They're import guys, not Jeep guys. I don't know where this stuff came from, and apparently no one else on the net does either. Maybe this is where everyone's getting thier info from. Four Wheel Drive Web - TFI Upgrade If you actually read the article, the author (listed as teamrush) clearly states toward the bottom of the post that if you really want to UPGRADE your system you need a high performance ignition module.

Do any of you actually understand what the "teamrush upgrade" does? Or you just following the crowd because it's the latest coolest thing to do? The teamrush modification is sold other places by other people under the name of The "JUICEBOX" same stuff just another name. All that you are doing is putting a larger (and by larger I mean just that, it's a bigger diameter) cap and rotor on your stock distributor. On your STOCK distributor. To "prevent crossfire from the hotter spark". Do you know what this means? Absolutely nothing. There is no proof. There are no numbers to back any of these claims up. Why? Because a STOCK Ford cap and rotor are rated for the exact same amount of current and voltage that a STOCK Jeep cap and rotor are rated for. If you were seriously doing an upgrade, wouldn't you increase your current and voltage ratings? The only way to do that is with an upgraded (MSD type) distributor, cap and rotor. And unless you add the TFI coil to the "upgrade" you aren't really doing anything for your system. Even adding the TFI coil, you're still missing the root cause of all of the ignition problems, the Motorcraft ignition module.

If I seriously needed to modify or upgrade my distributor, cap or rotor, don't you think the tech rep from Summit would have told me so when I asked him "Do I need to upgrade my distributor with this ignition box and coil or will the stock one work just fine"? And his response was "no, you're stock unit will work". I'm going to tend to believe Summit, they've got a lot of money invested in their reputation.

So please, stop telling me about the teamrush modification. I'm not doing it, I'm not interested in it, and I'm seriously tired of hearing about it.

I just asked a legit question I thought?
Definately post an update on this once you get it running. I was gonna Team Rush my Scrambler but Im interested in this too. Was your choice based on the parts you already new needed replaced or do you believe this is the better way to go? Thanx

WOW! Now there's passoin! :D Before this gets all sideways, lets agree to disagree. As I see it, the "team rush upgrade" devides into two schools of thought. You believe it and love it, or you think it's a crock and ignore it. I don't know why, but it's a touchy subject to many, almost like a cult religon. My personal experience with aftermarket systems is that my jeep was a turd, and installing the Jacobs system was literally night and day. I have run the same cap, wires, plugs, and not touched the system or components for over a decade. I was also told that my Jacobs system was absolute junk, would not last the year, and would be a horror to operate on the street.....whatever that meant...??? Proof and fact is, It's been flawless and I love it. My PERSONAL preference is to not mess with a stock part on my Jeep at any time if it works well, and have no desire to upgrade for the sake of upgrade. I understand that most of you that have done the rush thing claim good results, and that's what It's all about, but i wonder if It's simply a bandage to cover the root cause, which is a weak and dirty innition system. Thinking that the hotter spark aftermarket ignitions will burn hotter, cleaner and more precisely when called on, and eliminate the need for band aids like a team rush. I think CJ hit it dead center. Never "assume" that your new work or upgrades will be incomplete or defective. Try it out first, then move on only if needed. It's an open forum, and here to trade ideas and have a little fun, so lets discuss, pasionately if needed or wanted, but lets keep it above the belt with replies.:D Now shake hands and come out fighting!!

I just asked a legit question I thought?

You did ask a legit question Pete. And I'm not ticked off at any one person. I'm just very frustrated about the fact that everything I think about doing is meet with "do the teamrush".

I'll take pictures of the install and give a full report when I get her back together this weekend.

Bob and weave bob and weave, stick and move.. seriously EB was not trying to insult your intelligence, But fact is I have experienced the effect of the Teamrush on several vehicles and am a big fan of this upgrade. But there is just as many who hate it as well so once again this falls into that age old love/hate adage. If you want to keep what you have have that's fine it is your Jeep after all and no one will hate you for it. Just keep us posted and remember pics, pics, and more pics :chug:

All I'll say is there is is proof, I've read it and I agree. I used to be into electronics and electrical :dung:, so I do have a background on it, but by no means claim to be a expert, or even an amateur anymore.
But it does work. there is solid theory based on physics and if you did read enough about it, then you would see that. I don't always agree with TR (or JYD or whatever he calls himself today) but the fact is he is right on the money on this one.
Funny, if everyone says its a good upgrade, maybe there is something to it... Hell, I heard about and installed the system from a buddy thats been into wheeling and drag racing for years long before I ever heard of TeamRush...
And who the hell said you've wasted you money? get off your high horse.

I'm done

Jeeze! I have to laugh at this thread...

I made a simple flow chart to help us all out! :)
