today while cruising around, i went down a back road. (it was all blacktop thanks to a golf course) and my dad and i were looking for Junk, and Jeeps. and so we see this trencher, oh no not just any trencher, a Jeep-A-Trench. Gone. it lost its battle with cancer. the frame rotted in two, the body, well if you would call it that, the little F-Head was frozen solid, but the trencher was completely intact. but like the engine, frozen. i am thinking about buying it just to save the trencher. i just want to save a little bit of history. what can i say, im a Jeep freak

i really want to save it, just for the trencher and the wheels. those are the only good things. Thats pure Jeep history

If nothing else, I would have to own the name plate.:D

Get it home...then think about the best way to restore it...before the next grader pushes it off the road and REALLY bends it. My $0.02 worth.
PS. Post photos of it going home loaded on the trailer and wait for the cheers from this end!!

I thought about getting the trencher working, finding an old CJ5 and beefing up the frame and throwing that load on the back.. That Jeep is unrestorable, it's past unrestorable, I was thinking about scrapping the Jeep and just Keeping the pumps and the impossible to get stuff... I want to see if I can get it first... I need to save this piece of history

I have always wanted one of those, in fact, I'm facinated with the agri-jeeps as well, and all the attatchments that you could get for them... I would love to have a collection of those..

Why do the headlights look like they are in such good shape?!? Grab those at least!

I don't know why ether.... If I do get it, I'll probably Keep the axles because they're probably heavier than a regular cj5s and the trencher, get her all freed up, Keep the pumps off of it,and the wheels if I ever get a classic Cj again. An Keep the grile as a souvineer. Just hang it in the living room on the wall. But all in all, she needs to be saved before her last song will be sung, by a shear...

And yes, suprisingly they do look really good haha and the beauty rings are in really good shape too

Should be going out today to take one last look at her and seeing if theres an owner around to purchase her... I need to get it home

GREAT NEWS!! The Jeep should be having a coming home party Sunday! if it doesnt pour!

I talked to the guy probably 20 min ago and he said he just had to sell it. he said it is a 58 Jeep and it has a 62 F head thats been rebuilt. although it hasnt turned a piston over in 20+ years. but he said its got the extra heavy axles under it, with extra heavy leafs. the tie-rod is brand new and the beauty rings are the most beautiful things on there. She may be pulled from her, "Should be" grave in 2 pieces but im gonna try to save as much as i can of her.

You may just be surprised at the L head engine. Especially if it has had the hood closed whilst it's been sitting there for all that time. Hope no one removed any spark plugs or anything else that would allow moisture in??
Let us in on the secret of how much he wanted. Was it ridiculous? And I hope you get it all in one piece. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of the rescue :-)
Congratulations!

There was no hood for it, and the plugs were still in it, although I think she's locked tight. I have an extra Fhead that I got with my Dj that runs superb. And it's a very low possibility that I'll get her home in one piece the frame is rotted in 2 and the trencher itself weighs a whopping 1750 pounds. As long as I get it home it could be in 30 pieces I don't care, I want to save this little piece of history.
