Build Thread Thisguy`s 85 Laredo Build
Just shoot me a pm. I'll either be working on yours or mine next Saturday. :D

It would still be cool if you wanted to come out next weekend and turn some wrenches, tons of little stuff left. But I think I'll be able to get the new drive train in on my lonesome at this point.

It's up to you Pete, I am still waiting on the motor mounts, I may end up dropping the 4.0 in before Saturday but the shop I'm doing the work in is only a temporary space, I could definitely use a had relocating the jeep to my smaller garage on the property Saturday. We are still a few weeks from the jeep moving on its own power.

Dang, Still no motor mounts in the mail. I am way too impatient to be stuck in the middle of a process like this for a week. I want to actually drive this CJ this summer. I have Annual training with the ARMY from the 3rd to the 23rd of June. I really hope I will have this running by then. A month of not being able to work on my project is going to drive me insane!

Updates:

The 4.0 drivetrain is almost complete. All I have left are driveshafts and exhaust. Then Some minor odds and ends like figuring out how I want to do the shifters and finalizing some of the various wiring left.

I put in the 1inch superlift springs a while back and the Cj is most definitely gonna need new shackles. I asked tinman to make me some shackles to my specifications and they turned out nice. As soon as I get them I am going to get them powder coated and then put them in with all new poly bushings.

I also sold the BFG 31s that were on it to a kid with a YJ for 300 bucks.... Kinda more than they were worth but he didn't negotiate with me on the price so I wasn't gonna be like, hey you realize I listed these as 300OBO fully expecting to get like 200. I purchased a set of 4 Falken Wild Peak ATs 30x9.5x15 with only a couple thousand miles on them for 400 bucks. I was surprised out how much of a difference the look was with losing an inch on tire height. Originally I was going to go up .5 inches with the shackles but after seeing the 30s I decided to go with 0 to .25 inch lift shackles.

At this current height I think the stance can handle a 30 to maybe a 32. If I ever come into a 3.54 or 3.73 set of CJ axles I will go back to a 31 most likely.
I put the soft top and doors on last night so that I can tow it an leave it for a few nights at the exhaust shop. Obviously soft tops arent 100 percent water proof but its better than nothing and I can't put the hard top on by myself.
