[Canadian CJ 7]

This is a fun post. I am about to get new rims shortly and wouldn't mind some peoples opinion on what looks better on a jeep, white raised letters or all black with no lettering shown on the tire. The rims are going to be chrome wagon wheel style. Just curious what people think.

I like the look of white letters. If you are not going to be rock crawling and scuffing them up.

White letters on a clean blingy jeep.

Blackwalls on a meaner, more rugged tuff looking jeep.

Whitewalls are harder to keep clean. It just depends on the look of your jeep to me. If you are going to keep it clean I like SOLID white letters.

I have to go with solid black, especially if they are an aggressive tread.

mine are white lettered but that how i got it. when i painted the rims black it made them look better. but with crome id go black.

White letter with chrome, but don't worry about the scuff. Use a scouring pad, such as scotch brite, just like you would use to clean dishes. I use these pads on my truck every time I wash her. 40k miles and the raised white letters still look brand new.

I like raised white letters. I've done both, my first set of rims and tires on the XJ where aluminum with raised letters and the second set were black steelies with the black walls out. I still just prefer the white letters out. When I got the BFG M/T's for the CJ, I contemplated putting them black side out, but I really like the way they look with the letters out. But that's just me.

To keep them clean, even after scuffing them up in the mud and the rocks, a good stiff brush and Wesley's Bleach White, they'll look better than new every time.

Thanks for your input guys, I have enjoyed reading your posts and your comments. I have used scotch brite pads for a number of years with good success on white letters. I recently changed my tires on my Xterra to raised white letters from the black and like it a lot more, gives the vehicle a sporty look. I thought I would your guys opinion doing that for a jeep. My jeep is going mostly on pavement and off on logging roads once in a while.

I say raised white look better, especially for city and light trails. I'm a fan of contrast on anything so I think it helps it pop. Just my opinion. More importantly, its what the letters on the tire say that counts!

yeah, I have to agree with this. I have had both, and on this jeep, prefer black. However, a stock Jeep with no lift (see Elwoods pik) just looks like It's kickin it old school, and really looks legit. Funny how color and style will make one wheel look like on one jeep, and totally tits on another.

Looks like I'm the odd duck here. I have black wheels with white outlined letters.

After long thought, I am going with all black with my Nomad chrome rims. I think it will look better since my tires are older and I haven't been able to keep up the white letters with scotch brite and muscle. Maybe my next set of tires when they are new, I will go raised white letters. Thanks for your comments. I will post some updated pictures soon, I have done few more improvements on my CJ.
